Civil War Walking Tour of the Yorktown Village, Part 1: 1861-1862

Saturday, April 10, 2021

There is no better way to experience Historic Yorktown than taking a stroll with a professional historian! Tour guides Maureen Wiese and J. Michael Moore of Hampton Roads Tours will provide interesting information and insights not typically found in history books.

Get ready to explore Yorktown during the Civil War era. The Peninsula Campaign of 1862 pitted two colorful commanders against each other over a Revolutionary War battlefield, deploying such modern technologies as aerial observation and improvised explosive devices.

Participants must be able to walk at a leisurely pace for one hour with stops along the way. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours are weather permitting. A face mask is required.

J. Michael Moore's book "Yorktown's Civil War Siege Drums Along the Warwick" will be available for purchase and signing before and after the tours. The cost of the book is $20.

Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic—all York County sponsored and partner community events are subject to postponement or cancellation. This includes changes to dates, times, and locations.
