Summer Lovin’ in Yorktown

Three Unique Date Night Ideas

Before summer days start drifting away, be sure to plan some fun nights out with the one that you want. Whether you’re a couple who’s into history, music, or food, there are countless ways to rev up the romance here in town.

Riverwalk Outdoor Dining Couple

Itinerary #1

A great date kicks off with great food! Let the conversation flow as you dine al fresco by the York River at Water Street Grille; you can’t beat the view here! Be sure to snap a frame-worthy photo of you and your sweetie in front of this beautiful backdrop. The menu options are sure to please both you and your date. We’re talking Chargrilled Oysters, Baja Fish Tacos, Brick-Oven Pizza, and so many more mouthwatering options. You’ll find 20 micro-brews on tap daily!

After dinner, stroll up to Main Street for dessert. Historic Yorktown’s newest business, Little York Confectionery, has fresh, locally made chocolates and candy. Located in the circa 1700 Somerwell House, this shop is sure to delight all of your senses.

Round out the night with a Yorktown Ghost Walk. Tours run Monday through Thursday at 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. You’ll want to hold your honey extra close as you hear about haunted buildings and lingering spirits in Historic Yorktown.

Couple Dancing at Sounds of Summer

Itinerary #2

Sushi lovers will be satisfied at our favorite Japanese restaurant in town. Locally owned Umi Sushi offers delicious dishes such as sushi, salads, and a signature Korean dish known as Bibimbap. And, check this out–according to data from Grubhub and Match, eating sushi on a first date increases your chances of having a second date by 170 percent. Hey, it’s worth a shot!

Next up, get ready to dance the night away at one of the best events around. Our free Sounds of Summer Concert Series features music from some of the most popular bands around. Each show runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays from June through August (except July 6). Claim your spot on the grassy area by the river, and take in the sights and sounds with your special date.

After moving those hips all night, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Swing by Ben & Jerry’s for a sweet treat to end a memorable evening.

Couple sitting on Yorktown Beach

Itinerary #3

If you and your date are into great food and a casual atmosphere, Yorktown Pub is your place. Located steps away from Yorktown Beach, this popular spot offers sandwiches, seafood, and Carrot Tree’s signature desserts. Daily specials incorporate fresh local ingredients, and you’ll often find live entertainment on the weekends!

What’s more romantic than a sunset stroll along the beach? After dinner, walk right across the street to the sandy shores of the York River. Kick off your shoes, write your names in the sand, and celebrate your love in a delightful destination.

If you’d rather be on the water than the shore, book a sunset sail on one of Yorktown’s homeported schooners, Alliance II and Serenity. You’ll be reminiscing about this date for many years to come!
