Love Is in the Air in Yorktown!
If there ever was a year to go all out for Valentine's Day, it's this one. It's been a challenging 365 days, and we could all use a little extra love. If you've (understandably) been too busy homeschooling your children, trying to keep up with demands at work, or focusing on how to stay safe amidst this painful pandemic, stop and take a breath—we're here to help. With a quick phone call or drive down to Historic Yorktown, you'll be all set with a special gift in no time at all. Read on for some sweet ways to show your appreciation to the loved ones in your life.
When it comes to showing your love, we say GO BIG! And that's just what we've done at the Yorktown Waterfront. Life-sized LOVE letters on loan from the Virginia Tourism Corporation are decorated to promote our Valentine's Day Winter Market this Saturday, February 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They'll be here until February 19, so make sure to head down soon to snap a picture-perfect photo with your loved ones.
If an Instagram-worthy keepsake isn't incentive enough, consider the fact that your photo could win you a free Valentine's Day dinner! Simply upload your picture in the comments section of the pinned post on our Visit Yorktown Facebook page by 4 p.m. on February 11 with a caption about what you love most about Historic Yorktown. You'll automatically be entered in a drawing to win a delicious three-course dinner for two at Water Street Grille/Riverwalk Restaurant. Keep reading below for more mouthwatering details!
The winner will be randomly selected on Thursday, February 11. You must redeem the dinner reservation between the dates of February 12 through February 14. The dinner is valued at $100 and does not include alcohol or tip/gratuity, which is 20%.
Is food your love language? Plan a date night for Water Street Grille/Riverwalk Restaurant, where you can feast your eyes on a mouthwatering three-course menu. Among the appetizer options: Tuna Poke Nachos and Baked Local Oysters. For an entrée, choose from dishes including Saffron Risotto with Jumbo Sea Scallops and Sweet Hart Pasta. And for dessert, satisfy your sweet tooth with Chocolate Fondue for Two or Chef's Trio for Two (Heart-Shaped Dark Chocolate Mousse, Mini Cannoli, and Assorted Macarons). To make the night even more unforgettable, the restaurant is featuring a list of fun cocktails. Aren't they gorgeous?
If you make a reservation for Saturday night, you can also look forward to live music! And if a daytime date is more your thing, make a reservation for a tasty brunch on Saturday or Sunday.
If you'd prefer to dine at home but don't want to do the cooking, place a preorder for pickup at Carrot Tree. The food is always delicious, especially the dessert options that are sure sure to satisfy any sweet tooth! Call the Williamsburg location at 757.229.0957 to order, and be sure to specify pickup at the Yorktown location. Pickups begin on Friday, Feb. 12.

Mobjack is also a lovely place to celebrate the holiday. History buffs will fall in love with the idea of a backyard history talk on "The Great Love of George and Martha Washington." The fire pit will be heating things up during the event that runs from 1-2 p.m. And you'll really love this: the event is free!
Before the talk begins, make sure to order this beautiful Valentine's Pas de Deux: a bottle of Los Monteros pink champagne with a petite box of Valentine's Day Strawberry Cannoli ($20). For those who don't drink alcohol, they're also offering a non-alcoholic sparkling Brut. Mobjack will have the beautiful set available for purchase through February 14. If you're not planning to attend the talk, make sure to stop in soon for this grab-and-go gift your darling will adore!
Handcrafted art always makes a special gift! And there's no shortage of creations your girlfriend, mother, or Galentine would love at Auntie M's American Cottage. In honor of Valentine's Day, owner/artist "Auntie M" (Marilyn West) is offering 25% off all hanging pewter charm necklaces and keychains from February 12-14. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., so make your plans to go browse and discover one-of-a-kind treasures that are perfect for the ones you love. We bet you'll find something for yourself, too!
Speaking of one-of-a-kind gifts, The Gallery at York Hall is chock-full of creations from more than 300 local artists. We spotted so many treasures when we stopped in this week: bird houses created with painted gourds, adorable paintings of Historic Yorktown landmarks, vibrant stained-glass sun catchers, and so much more!
The Gallery, located at 301 Main Street, is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the winter. If you live in York County, don't forget your Citizen Rewards Card for 10% off your entire purchase.
Jewelry is always a top gift on Valentine's Day, and we're fortunate to have such a talented jeweler right here in Yorktown! J. The Yorktown Collection is classically beautiful—and it's available for purchase online if you don't want to leave your home.
