Baseball Parks and Recreation

The county has six community parks that offer boat launching facilities, lighted tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields—even a waterfront picnic area. At our New Quarter Park, hike or bike our trails, fish from our floating pier, or book a Segway tour! All park locations include: Back Creek, Charles Brown, Chisman Creek, Kiln Creek, New Quarter (near Williamsburg), and Wolf Trap.

Canoeing & Kayaking

York County Blueways (PDF) offer plenty of opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. You can launch a canoe or kayak from the beach in Yorktown and from New Quarter Park in upper York County near Williamsburg. Boat launches at Old Wormley Creek Landing, Rodgers A. Smith Landing in Tabb and Back Creek Park in Seaford accommodate canoes and kayaks.

Sports Recreation

Parks throughout the county offer lighted softball fields, lighted regulation baseball fields, basketball courts, and more. Hikers appreciate miles of trails through mature forests, meadows, ravines and tidal wetlands at New Quarter Park. Also available are trails for mountain biking and family biking, an 18-hole disc golf course, horseshoe pits, basketball and sand volleyball courts, a softball field, picnic shelters, and a large playground. Back Creek Park offers six regulation-size tennis courts and Charles Brown Park provides a very nice community center for indoor events. The McReynolds Athletic Complex on Route 17 features 13 lighted athletic fields for soccer, baseball, and softball. This park also offers three concession/restroom buildings, playgrounds, a 1.8 mile multi-purpose path, and a bike lane.

Explore Our Parks

Back Creek

Back Creek Park is our hub for tennis activities, including tournaments. You’ll find six illuminated courts for those long three setters, a practice wall to get your rhythm, and even a ball machine to rent if you want to perfect those drop volleys.  If you’d rather be on the water, the park also features a boat launch and kayak access. Restrooms are on site for your convenience as well as a picnic area.

Chisman Creek

Chisman Creek Park is the county’s home for baseball and softball tournaments at both a local and national level and features two lighted softball fields.  The park stretches across 13 acres and has skinned infields and Vamont Bermuda irrigated outfields. This park hosts York County's adult softball program year-round, taking a short break from play during the winter months. Restroom facilities are available on the premises.

Kiln Creek

Kiln Creek Park is dedicated to a wide range of sports. Throughout the 21 acres, you’ll find an illuminated soccer field, lighted baseball field, and a softball field.  There are two half basketball courts, a playground, picnic shelter, and restrooms.  The baseball field has a grass infield and Vamont Bermuda outfield while the soccer field is also Vamont Bermuda and irrigated.  The county’s soccer and Little League programs take place here as well as several baseball and softball tournaments.

MAC Sports Complex

Boasting 70 acres, the McReynolds Athletic Complex (MAC) is our premier facility and hosts tournaments for an array of sports including baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, and kickball.  Whether it’s a local, regional, or national competition—our experienced staff will ensure your event is a success. The park includes 13 lighted fields with three of them dedicated to baseball, four to softball, and six to soccer. The complex also has jogging paths, playgrounds, concession stands, restrooms, and a community garden. One of the most unique features is a walking trail with several fitness stations set up along the path.  

New Quarter Park

New Quarter Park has fun opportunities that stretch across more than 500 acres! Whether you’re biking, hiking, or playing sports—there’s an activity for everyone. You’ll find nine different hiking trails (with scenic overlooks); an 18-hold disc golf course; access to waterways for canoes, kayaks, and fishing; routes for family biking, and so much more! This park is located close to Colonial Williamsburg and also has picnic shelters you can reserve for special celebrations.

Wolf Trap

Wolf Trap Park is a 28-acre lot divided into four fields that are dedicated to our soccer program and where we host travel teams, adult leagues, and tournaments. The site also features two ponds and a Memorial Tree Grove which provides an opportunity for York County citizens and organizations to honor friends, relatives, and other loved ones who have passed away. This facility also includes restroom facilities
